Student project at TNO (Thesis)
Project Description
Holst Centre develops flexible, large area photodetector-on-plastic technology. Organic photodetectors are investigated for existing imaging technologies as they offer cheap processing methods, they can be prepared on light, flexible and large-area devices and their photophysical and optoelectronic properties can be tuned both at a material and device level. Research on novel materials and device architectures that detect in the near infrared spectrum could open a wide range of applications in different fields (e.g. healthcare, biometry).
In this traineeship, the student will prepare and characterize photodetectors based on organic materials. Different approaches will be taken to attain near infrared wavelength photodetection. This student project will be an internship and/or master thesis with a duration of at least 6 months.
The goal of the project will be to:
To analyze different material blends to be used as organic photodetectors
To optimize the performance of the device by evaluating different processing conditions
To measure the electrical and optical properties of the organic photodetectors
To investigate innovative approaches to increase photodetection into the near infrared wavelengths
