What will you be doing?
You will join the Thin-Film Electronics team to develop and realize the department’s program and project portfolio in the domain of Energy Storage, leveraging the department’s strengths in thin and thick film process technology and related technologies. Your daily activities will be varied since you will join a multidisciplinary team that executes multiple programs and projects with company partners and European consortia in parallel. Technically, you will research and develop new electrochemical device concepts for next-generation solid-state batteries and hydrogen electrolysers to realize fast and stable electrochemical conversion of species within the devices. The emphasis will be on understanding and optimizing the electrochemistry and resulting device performance at integrated component level. You will be working at the interface of materials science, electrochemical device and process technology in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Your main activities will be to:
Develop and characterize new electrochemical device concepts for batteries and electrolysers based on large-area integrated thin film process flows
Support the technical program roadmaps and projects involving Energy Storage, by (i) translating relevant state-of-art research topics into experimental plans and their execution together with the team members, and (ii) writing and execution funded projects in both National and European context
Generate and report results that are either patentable or publishable in internationally renowned journals/conferences
Work in a multidisciplinary, multi-company team, supervising and coaching of team members and students
What do we require of you?
PhD in Electrochemistry, Batteries, Catalysis or related research
Several years of experience in research & development settings with an emphasis on device technology, preferably with a proven affinity with thin-film technology
Pro-active and critical attitude towards analysis of thin-film processes with clear goal in mind
Hands-on and taking responsibility, able to organize (practical) work in an efficient and cooperative way
Excellent communication skills in English
