UWB Radar

Buildings and vehicles require accurate location awareness, secure access control, and reliable tracking.

Common wireless technologies often struggle with these tasks, especially when high precision or robustness is needed. Ultra-WideBand (UWB) overcomes these limitations by enabling centimetre-level ranging and secure, interference-resistant communication. This makes UWB a strong fit for applications in which location accuracy and stability are essential.

Holst Centre works with imec’s UWB technology to provide high-precision micro-location solutions.

These systems combine UWB radio design with advanced algorithms to achieve accurate ranging in challenging indoor and industrial settings. Imec’s UWB transceiver technology delivers precise time-of-flight measurements, very low power consumption, and strong resilience to multipath environments. Our work focuses on integrating these capabilities into compact modules suitable for mobility and industrial use.

UWB Radar explained

What it supports

This technology supports secure access, reliable tracking, and robust micro-location in settings where accuracy, energy efficiency, and stable performance are required. It enables partners to build systems that benefit from UWB’s unique combination of precision, security, and low-power operation.
