Wireless technologies

Imagine locating a key, a tool on a factory floor, or a medical device in a hospital with centimetre precision, indoors, in real time, without missing a beat.

Most wireless systems can't deliver that level of accuracy in complex environments. At imec at Holst Centre, we develop the ultra‑low‑power wireless technologies that make it possible — from Ultra‑WideBand positioning and Bluetooth Channel Sounding to the next generation of unified transceivers that bring it all together.

Holst Centre’s contribution

At imec at Holst Centre, we develop the ultra‑low‑power wireless technologies that make it possible, from Ultra‑WideBand positioning and Bluetooth Channel Sounding to the next generation of unified transceivers that bring it all together. Our fourth‑generation UWB chip consumes just one‑tenth of the power of current state‑of‑the‑art, and as Bluetooth, WiFi and UWB begin to converge, we are already building the single chip that speaks all their languages.
