Overburdened healthcare providers and the increase in antibiotic-resistant infections are just two of the challenges the healthcare system faces. And despite extensive academic and industrial R&D, novel devices to help reduce these challenges through smart wound care remain largely out of reach.
Rapid validation and application
TNO at Holst Centre has already established multiple wearable research platforms, spanning different technology readiness levels and sensor integrations. These platforms enable early validation and real-world data generation, reducing risk of smart wound care innovation before full clinical translation. Insights from these research platforms directly inform targeted use-case demonstrators through an iterative development process. This structured cycle accelerates innovation and ensures solutions are shaped by validated learning rather than assumptions.
Support for complete process
Our smart wound care platforms reach beyond the building blocks for the dressings themselves. We also address the challenges of the entire production process, such as reusability, sustainability, waste streams, end of life, and more. Together with dressing manufacturers, sensor developers, OEMs and clinical and operational partners, we can develop a wide range of wound care solutions that not only promote healing and reduce infection, but resolve challenges that current wound care cannot.
